[선교사역보고 update] India Mission Update 2023.10.04
“이스라엘의 하나님이 이스라엘 회중에서 너희를 구별하여 자기에게 가까이 하게 하사 여호와의 성막에서 봉사하게 하시며 회중 앞에서 서서 그들을 대신하여 섬기게 하심이 너희에게 작은 일이겠느냐?” (민16:9)
“Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near Himself to do the work at the LORD’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them?” (Numbers 16:9)
오늘 10월4일 QTin 묵상말씀 본문입니다. 이번 하나님께서 허락하신 인도 선교사역을 감당하면서, 하나님 앞에 구별되어 (1) 하나님께서 당신에게 우리를 가까이 하게 하시여, (2) “하나님의 성막”에서 봉사하게 하시며, 또한 (3) “회중 앞에서 서서 그들을 대신하여” 섬기게 하심이 절대 작은 일이 아님을 다시 한번 깊이 깨닫는 복된 시간을 지내고 있습니다.
This is a devotional passage from QTin for Oct. 4th. As I continue to missional journey God has entrusted with, I come to realize once again that as God’s church that has been “separated” (1) to be brought near to our LORD, (2) to do the work at the LORD’s tabernacle, and (3) to stand before the community and minister to them is indeed a tremendous blessing, overflow of His grace and mercy.
이번 인도를 처음 방문하면서, 하나님께서 이 백성들을 향한 하나님의 특별한 은혜가 있음을 보게 됩니다. 인도 이 넓은 땅 가운데, 동북부에 Nagaland (인도 안에 속한 주 State) 입니다.
First time visiting India, I came to realize God’s abundant blessings for this nation, especially for the people residing in the area called Nagaland (the State within India).
Nagaland는 산지 지역으로 해발 약 600 meters (2,000 ft)에서 1,800 meters (6,000 ft), 그리고 가장 높은 지역은 3,800 (12,000 ft)으로 되어 있습니다. 이곳은 여러 본토 종족들이 여기저기에 퍼져 사는 곳이며, 아직 개발되지 못한 산맥 중심에 놓여진 길로 인해, 교통이 만만치 못한 곳 입니다.
Nagaland is home to diverse indigenous ethnic groups, each with its distinct customs, traditions and languages. They are located in Northeast India, mostly valleys and mountains, elevation ranging between 2,000 ft to 6,000 ft. The highest elevation is over 12,000 ft. Due to insufficient development of roads in between these mountainous ranges, transportation is really difficult and challenging.
제가 이곳 인도 New Delhi에 도착한 후 약 8시간 경유한 후 Nagaland주 안에 위치한 Dimapur란 도시(비행기로 2시반)에 도착한 후 유병국/유보인 선교사님과 현지 WEC 사역자님들의 따뜻한 배웅을 받고, 이어 차를 타고 저희 도착지인 (약 8시간 거리) Mokokchung이란 도시에 도착했습니다. 이곳은 Ao라는 종족이 살고 있는 곳입니다. Mokokchung에서 3일 사역을 마친 후에 다시 차로 이동하여, Nagaland에 수도인 Kohima (Mokokchung에서 차로 7시간)에 도착해서, 어제부터 이곳에서 주님께서 허락하신 사역을 감당하고 있습니다. 앞으로 Kohima 사역이 마무리되면, 다시 Dimapur로 돌아가서, 마지막 준비된 Conference에서 말씀을 증거한 후 다시 미국으로 들어갈 일정입니다.
After I arrived at New Delhi, a domestic flight took me to a city within Nagaland, Dimapur. There, I was warmly greeted by missionary Yoo and the WEC (Worldwide Evangelization for Christ) staff serving these areas. From Dimapur, we drove another 8 hours to arrive at Mokokchung. After 3-days of ministry, we left for Kohima (a capital city of Nagaland). Since last Monday, we have been here to minister, and on Friday, we are planning to drive back to Dimapur for our last scheduled conference with church pastors, lay leaders, and seminarians.
이곳에 머물면서, WEC 유병국/유보인 선교사님, 그리고 현지 WEC staff와 함께 동역하면서, 이 지역을 향한 하나님의 놀라운 섭리를 보게 됩니다.
While I have been serving alongside WEC missionaries Yoo couple, and staff here, I came to see and witness God’s amazing providence.
주님께서 “추수할 것은 많되 일꾼이 적다”는 말씀을 다시 한번 마음에 되새기면서, 이미 영국이나, 미국, 그리고 한국은 예전과 같이 많은 선교사님들을 파송하지 못하고 있습니다. 교회들마다 이미 쇠퇴되고, 또한 신학교마다 입학 정원을 채우지 못하는 현실에 다가와 있습니다. 예전과 달리 청년들이 선교적 사명에 응답하지 않습니다.
“Harvests are plentiful, but workers are few…” These words spoken by our LORD rings in my spirit. Countries that were once leading in raising up and sending out missionaries (England, US, and Korea) all over the world have now dwindled in terms of numbers and their effectiveness. Many churches are struggling since COVID, and also, most every seminary cannot fulfill the quota for the new students. Young Christians, not like in the past, are not responding to the call for God’s missional works.
그러나, 하나님께서는 여전히 땅끝까지 복음 전파를 위해 일하고 계심을 다시 한번 깨닫게 되며, 이를 위해 하나님께서 예비하신 자들이 있음을 보게 됩니다.
However, we trust that God has not finished with the missional work, and He is continuing to work in the hearts of those He has already prepared.
Nagaland 지역은 아마도 전 세계에서 가장 복음화된 곳이라 짐작됩니다. 이곳에 있는 도시와 여러 부족의 평균 70%에서 99%가 기독교인이라는 통계가 있습니다. 그리고, 가는 곳마다 도시 곳곳에 십자가가 세워진 교회와 귀한 젊은 영혼들의 가득히 채워진 신학교와 성경학교를 볼 수 있습니다.
I learned from this mission trip that Nagaland is one the most evangelized regions around the world. In this particular area alone, between 70 to 90% are Christians, statistically speaking. Every place you visit, churches with the Cross on top are everywhere; there are many seminaries and Bible colleges packed with young people.
약 150년전에 영국, 미국 선교사님들이 이 험난한 산지까지 오셔서, 주님의 복음을 선포하신 것 입니다. 이를 기뻐하신 하나님께서 풍성한 열매를 허락하심이 얼마나 감사한지 모릅니다.
About 150 years ago, missionaries from England and the US came all the way up here to share the Gospel and in His pleasure and delight, God has brought abundance of these fruits.
하나님께서 과연 이곳에서 어떠한 일을 하고 계실까?란 질문을 하면서, 하나님의 놀랍고 위대하신 계획을 보게 됩니다. Nagaland 이 지역을 중심으로 근접한 여러나라들이 가장 복음화가 되지 못한 힌디, 무슬림 나라들과 백성들 입니다.
“What is God doing here?” one may ask. Even though this particular area of India is most evangelized, they are surrounded by nations/populations that are least evangelized around the world. Countries bordering India and Nagaland such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Pakistan, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, etc. are mostly Muslim and Hindu nations, least evangelized around the world.
하나님께서는 바로 이곳에 있는 여러교회와 여러 신학교를 통해 열방의 복음화를 위해 세운 일꾼들을 예비하심을 확신하게 됩니다. WEC는 이곳에 있는 풍성한 자원, 그러나, 그들의 사명을 아직 온전하게 깨닫지 못함을 알고, 각 교회와 신학교를 방문하면서, 그들에게 선교적 사명을 감당할 메시지를 전하고 있습니다.
The fact that Nagaland is situated in the center of all these nations is not by chance, but by God’s divine design. WEC is working to visit all these churches and schools to mobilize many missionaries to be sent to all over the world. The message is simple: “respond to God’s call for the missional works - willing to be sent wherever God sends.”
이미 이러한 도전을 받고, 하나님의 부르심에 응답하여, 이곳에서 선교지로 떠난 여러 귀한 일꾼들이 배출되었습니다. 그러나, “추수할 것은 너무 많은데,” 일꾼이 부족한 이 시대에 하나님께서 더 많은 일꾼을 세워주심을 위해, 힘든 여정 가운데 가는 곳마다, 선교적 사명이란 부르심에 응답해야 한다는 말씀을 선포하고 있습니다.
Many young people here have responded to such calls and are already serving at various places around these regions. But still, many more workers are needed, and to that end, WEC is continuing its work.
이곳에 와서 며칠 지내면서, 여전히 하나님께서 시대적 사명을 위해 “예비하신 일꾼”들이 있음을 보면서, 다시 신실하신 주님을 찬양하게 됩니다.
Having spent a few days here, I come to witness God’s faithfulness in preparing and reserving His workers for time such as this.
제가 앞으로 기도하는 것은 이곳에서 배출되어 선교적 사명을 감당할 미래 선교사님들을 위해 함께 기도하며, 함께 사역하는 저희 교회가 됨을 확신합니다. 부족한 제가 저 자신을 포함하여 이곳에 있는 교회 목회자들과 평신도 지도자들, 그리고 각 신학교와 성경학교 학생들에게 하나님께서 허락하신 선교적 사명을 함께 감당하자는 메시지를 전하고 있습니다. 하나님께서 허락하신 열매를 기대하며, 성도님들의 기도에 진심으로 감사 드립니다. 모든 GMC 성도님들 진심으로 축복하며 사랑합니다. 조만간 건강한 모습으로 뵙겠습니다.
What I am praying for is this - our GMC may prayerfully come together in partnering with WEC and all these local churches and schools, in raising up faithful and well-equipped missionaries. Such a privilege God has given and entrusted me to share the messages with these humble and faithful church leaderships as well as beautiful young people who desire to serve the LORD, we only hope to be a vessel by which God’s clear voice for the missional call can be shared and heard by many. Once again, I am so thankful for all our GMC families’ prayers and support. So looking forward to seeing you soon~
